Through the generosity of the Mrs. Clifford E. Graham Trust, the College has established the Mrs. Clifford Elder White Graham Endowed Research Fund to support annual pilot project awards for BCM faculty who are studying muscular dystrophy or related disorders.

Applicants must be BCM faculty members at the tenure-track assistant or associate professor level. Junior faculty are especially encouraged to apply. There is no limit on the number of times an applicant can receive an award. There are no restrictions on other support.

Two grants of $22,500 are available in Type 1 unrestricted funds and will support basic, clinical, or translational projects. Funds must be expended by end of fiscal year (June 30).

Applications are due by 5:00 PM on Friday June 07, 2024 and must be submitted via the 'Submit Application' link below. Applications will be reviewed by a BCM faculty committee. Notification of application outcome will be provided approximately one month after review and no written critique of the review process will be provided to the applicant.

The application must be single-spaced and have at least 1/2” margins. Please use 11 point font or larger.

    Funds may support laboratory personnel, patient care costs, and the purchase of supplies and equipment. Equipment requests may not exceed 25 percent of the total grant budget. Inappropriate expenditures include travel, major equipment, and faculty or administrative salaries.

    Provide a biographical sketch of the principal investigator, including the following information:
    • Positions and honors
    • Selected peer-reviewed publications
    • Other support (active and pending)
  5. LETTERS OF SUPPORT
    Include any necessary letters from collaborators involved in the project confirming their roles.
  6. APPENDIX
    Literature cited may be placed in an appendix (maximum 1 page)
Printable application instructions

Progress reports (1-2 page PDF, Arial 11 point with ½” margins) will be required within two months after completion of the award (approximately August 31). The progress report should detail scientific progress made on the project, including any manuscripts or presentations made or planned. It should include a section on external funding applications made or planned, and describe future plans for the project
