Frequently Asked Questions:
  1. Are both clinical and basic research nominations accepted?
    Yes. Note that the research supporting the nomination must be published within the last three years.
  2. Who may submit nominations?
    Any BCM faculty member may submit a nomination. The nominee must be a full-time BCM faculty member. Self-nominations are not permitted. The nominator must submit the nomination in the online application system; the nominee may not submit their own nomination.
  3. Are team nominations permitted (more than one individual)?
    Possibly, but only under exceptional circumstances. Please email awards@bcm.edu with your request before submitting the nomination.
  4. May a BCM faculty member submit multiple nominations?
    Yes, as long as each nomination is for a different individual.
  5. Is there a limit to how many times an individual may be nominated in a given year?
    No, there is no limit as long as each nomination is from separate nominators.
  6. May an individual receive the award more than once?
    Previous recipients are eligible to receive the award again; however, they must wait two years after receipt of the award to be reconsidered for nomination. Faculty receiving the award three times will be retired from further consideration.
  7. What fund type is the award?
    The award is type 2 temporary restricted funds. Each awardee will have an account set up to receive the funds.
