Frequently Asked Questions and Answers:

1. How important is collaboration to the application?

The purpose of this award is to fund projects which will bridge the translational gap between data to models and models to drug discovery/personalized therapy. Therefore it is extremely important that the research plan clearly demonstrates a collaborative design which will accomplish this goal.

2. May non-BCM collaborators be included?

Yes. The PI must be a full-time BCM faculty member, but other faculty collaborators do not have to be BCM faculty members. However, note that subawards to other institutions are generally not permitted.

3. Will written reviews be provided to applicants?

No written review will be provided.

4. When do awards start and end?

Awards begin upon notification of award. Note however that the account setup process may take several weeks. Award funds are type 1 unrestricted; therefore the award ends on June 30th and cannot be extended.

5. I received this award for a project last year. May I reapply for another year of funding for the same project?

Proposals may receive funding for up to a maximum of 4 years.
